This original training programme spearheaded by the University of Leicester and University hospitals of NHS trust involves every secondary school in Leicester and is extending into Rutland.

The charity runs teaching sessions for pupils to inspire confidence in performing quality CPR so that they can assist saving lives. Research from all over the globe has shown this is possible and will increase the survival rates of out of hospital cardiac arrest.

The Heartwize Schools Programme has delivered over 500 school training sessions, trained over 250 volunteer community trainers, 16,000 students and 600 school staff and provided every secondary school with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Heartwize Essex begins in September 2019 and aims to deliver the same quality to training to all secondary schools across the county.
