Heartwize Essex

Heartwize Essex is a charitably-funded programme that delivers high quality life support training to Essex school staff and students – entirely free of charge.* 

 Up to 60,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals in the UK every year with a survival rate of less than 10%. Early CPR within minutes of a person’s heart stopping is one of the single greatest factors for improving survival. However, in only one in four cases do bystanders act to help save a life.

From 2020, education in basic first aid and CPR will form a mandatory part of the secondary school curriculum. 

 

Our ambition is huge 

Heartwize Essex aims to ensure that every school leaver across Essex is trained to recognise and respond appropriately to a cardiac arrest emergency.

Heartwize Essex are able to provide this training free of charge thanks to the generous support of the cardiac charity SADS UK.
